We will never sell your personal information. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data in compliance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

GigPulse, a sole proprietorship operating under the laws of British Columbia, Canada ("GigPulse," "we," "us," or "our"), is committed to protecting your privacy and safeguarding your personal information. This Privacy Policy ("Policy") explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect your personal information when you access or use the GigPulse web application, website, and all related services (collectively, the "Service").
This Policy applies to all users of the Service, including visitors, registered users, and subscribers. By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.

2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
When you create an account and use GigPulse, you provide:
- Account Information: Email address, password (encrypted)
- Income Data: Earnings from gig platforms (DoorDash, Uber, Skip, Instacart), tips, dates
- Expense Data: Business expenses (gas, maintenance), receipts, mileage logs
- Feedback: Messages you send via our feedback form
2.2 Automatically Collected Information
- Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, time spent in app
- Device Information: Browser type, operating system, IP address
- Cookies: Authentication tokens to keep you logged in (essential cookies only)
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your data to:
- Provide and improve the GigPulse service
- Calculate tax estimates and generate financial reports
- Send important account notifications (e.g., subscription renewals, policy changes)
- Respond to your support requests and feedback
- Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
- Comply with legal obligations (e.g., tax reporting if required by law)
We do NOT: Sell your data to third parties, show you ads, or share your income information with gig platforms.
4. How We Protect Your Data
We take security seriously:
- Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest (AES-256)
- Secure Infrastructure: We use Supabase, a SOC 2 Type II certified provider
- Password Security: Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms (bcrypt)
- Access Controls: Only authorized personnel can access user data (for support purposes only)
- Regular Backups: Your data is backed up daily to prevent loss
However, no system is 100% secure. We recommend using a strong, unique password and enabling two-factor authentication if available.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do NOT sell or rent your personal information. We may share data only in these limited cases:
- Service Providers: Third-party tools that help us operate (e.g., Supabase for hosting, Formspree for feedback forms). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.
- Legal Compliance: If required by Canadian law, court order, or government authority (e.g., CRA subpoena)
- Business Transfers: If GigPulse is acquired or merged, your data may transfer to the new owner (you will be notified)
- With Your Consent: Any other sharing requires your explicit permission
6. Your Privacy Rights (PIPEDA)
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Data Portability: Export your data in CSV format
- Withdraw Consent: Stop receiving marketing emails (we don't send marketing emails currently)

7. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active, plus:
- Active Accounts: Data stored indefinitely while subscribed
- Canceled Accounts: Data retained for 90 days after cancellation, then permanently deleted
- Legal Requirements: If legally required (e.g., tax records), we may retain data for up to 7 years per CRA guidelines
We recommend exporting your data before canceling your account. Once deleted, data cannot be recovered.
8. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies to:
- Authentication: Keep you logged in securely (essential cookie)
- Preferences: Remember your settings (e.g., time range on dashboard)
We do NOT use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels. You can disable cookies in your browser, but this may affect your ability to use GigPulse.
9. Third-Party Services
GigPulse relies on third-party service providers to operate. By using our Service, you acknowledge and consent to the sharing of your information with these providers as necessary to deliver the Service:
Supabase (Database & Authentication)
Stores your account information, financial data, orders, and expenses. SOC 2 Type II compliant. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.Privacy Policy

THIRD-PARTY SERVICE DISCLAIMER
GIGPULSE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PRIVACY PRACTICES, DATA HANDLING, SECURITY MEASURES, OR ACTIONS OF ANY THIRD-PARTY SERVICE PROVIDERS. Each third-party provider operates under its own privacy policy and terms of service.
We are not liable for any data breaches, security incidents, service outages, data loss, or other issues arising from third-party services, including Supabase, Stripe, Vercel, or Formspree. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these providers.
10. Children's Privacy
GigPulse is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we discover that a child has provided personal information, we will delete it immediately. If you believe a minor is using our service, please contact us.
11. International Users
GigPulse is designed for Canadian users and complies with Canadian privacy laws. If you access our service from outside Canada, your data may be transferred to and stored in Canada. By using GigPulse, you consent to this transfer.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Material changes will be communicated via email at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use of GigPulse after changes constitutes acceptance.
13. Data Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach that poses a real risk of significant harm to you, we will:
- Notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by PIPEDA
- Notify affected users via email as soon as reasonably practicable
- Provide information about the nature of the breach and steps you can take to protect yourself
- Maintain records of all breaches as required by law
However, we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, hacking, data loss, or other breaches will never occur. You acknowledge and accept this risk when using the Service.
14. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GIGPULSE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO, USE OF, OR DISCLOSURE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION, EXCEPT WHERE SUCH ACCESS, USE, OR DISCLOSURE IS DIRECTLY CAUSED BY OUR GROSS NEGLIGENCE OR WILLFUL MISCONDUCT.
We are not liable for data breaches, security incidents, or privacy violations caused by third-party service providers, hackers, cyberattacks, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
